This is another great little online tool that we have found for those with better things to do than spend their entire existence Tweeting. It’s called www.socialoomph.com and it does exactly what it says in the menu bar – it gives a boost to your social networking activities by automating tasks, so that you can occasionally put down your iphone and STEP AWAY FROM THE DEVICE.
Social Oomph was formerly known as Tweet Later, focusing most of its efforts on a certain feathered network, but in 2009 it broadened its horizons to provide a whole host of nifty tools for lots of different social networking systems. The best thing about sites like Social Oomph is that they consolidate your social networking activity so, if you have a Twitter account and a Facebook account (as well as any number of others) for your business, you can control them all by logging into this one place.
It does all manor of tricks but here are a few key features of Social Oomph:
- Schedule Tweets, Facebook status updates and even blog posts (particularly useful if your market is on the other side of the world and working, while you’re in bed asleep)
- Track your @mentions and retweets on Twitter so that you can really take note of what’s working and draw meaningful results from your online efforts
- Schedule recurring updates but, crucially, without being repetitive. For a really low maintenance option you can schedule updates that will be published on a regular basis, providing a few text options to keep them slightly different each time… and make the updates feel a bit more human
- Search for keywords and return lists of users who are updating on those topics, so that you can choose to follow them, or not
- Keep your friends and followers in order with a variety of semi-automated processes that allow you to automatically follow users who follow you, vet new followers, avoid spam accounts and much more besides
